Information Access Router for Integrated Information Access System

In this paper, we describe the idea and preliminary survey of an Integrated Information Access System (IIAS) that accepts diverse kinds of questions and provides the requested information in the most suitable format for the information need. We designed a set of 18 Information Access Types — categories defined by the form of the output and the semantics of some of the output types. Also, we will report on the implementation of one important component of the system, the Information Access Router (IAR). The IAR is to identify the types of information need which the user requested based on the question in natural language. We evaluated the IAR on about 1500 questions, and the results show that the IAR achieves high accuracy using simple pattern matching methods.
